FAQ

What is ASCII text?

ASCII stands for American Standard Code for Information Interchange. It is a character set containing English letters, numbers, punctuation and control characters. ASCII text art arranges ordinary keyboard characters into pictures, decorative lettering or little creatures. Our four lettering styles use ASCII characters; decorated notes can also keep accents and emoji you type.

How does ASCII text art copy and paste work?

Type your text and click a design’s artwork to copy it automatically, then paste it into your message or document. Every design also has its own Copy text, Copy Image, Download image and Save .txt buttons beside its heading. These actions work directly on that design without jumping to another part of the page. Each action briefly changes its button label and shows a message: “Copied!” for copying, or “Started!” when a file download starts. The button then returns to its usual label. For ASCII text art copy and paste to stay lined up, use a monospace font or tick the Code block checkbox beside that design’s buttons in chats that support Markdown. Copy keeps the complete design and its line breaks. To keep your colour or rainbow too, use Copy Image or Download image.

Do I need the Code block checkbox?

Only for chats that support Markdown code blocks. Tick it to add the markers that keep your copied text in a monospace block. Leave it unticked for other apps. Each design has its own checkbox to the right of its action buttons; it applies to Copy text and clicking that artwork. It does not change images or Save .txt.

Why does ASCII text look different after I paste it?

Copy text offers a formatted monospace version with the design’s display size, as well as exact plain text. Some apps strip that formatting, use a proportional font, collapse repeated spaces, or wrap long lines. Plain text and code blocks use the receiving app’s font size, so styles with more character rows will look taller. Big lettering needs a monospace font and enough width. If your chat app supports Markdown code blocks, tick “Code block” beside that design’s buttons. For smaller spaces, try Fine Line or a short decorated note.

Does copying preserve all the whitespace?

Yes. The creator copies the complete plain text, including leading spaces, spaces between letters and line breaks. Long text moves onto new lines between complete letters, preferably at spaces. Copy includes those line breaks, along with the spacing inside each letter. The receiving app still controls how pasted text is displayed; Save .txt gives you a plain text file with the same spacing.

Will the colour or rainbow copy too?

Clicking a design, Copy text and Save .txt keep the characters, spaces and line breaks without colour. The text usually pastes black, although the receiving app controls its text colour. Copy text also includes monospace formatting for apps that accept it. To keep pink, lilac, peach, mint, sky blue or Rainbow, choose Copy Image or Download image. These give you a coloured PNG to paste or share as a picture.

How do I copy the coloured image?

Choose your colour, then click Copy Image beside the heading of the design you want. When “Image copied!” appears, paste it into an app that accepts pictures. If your browser blocks image copying or does not support it, choose Download image and upload or share the saved PNG instead.

Does the image include the whole design?

Yes. Copy Image and Download image include every line, with the same wrapping you see on the page. The PNG keeps your selected colour or rainbow and the same dark background as the design. It contains just your design, with a little space around it. It is a picture; use Copy text or Save .txt when you need editable text.

Can I use accents, emoji or punctuation?

The decorated notes keep your original text. The lettering alphabets support A–Z, numbers, spaces and common punctuation such as ! ? . , : - _ ' " ( ) / + & @. Other characters get a clear notice, so your name is never silently shortened or replaced.

What does this ASCII text creator make?

It creates lettering, bubbles and decorations from ordinary keyboard characters. The four lettering styles use real ASCII characters. The four decorated notes frame the words you type; any accents or emoji you enter stay in those notes.

What if the copy button does not work?

If your browser blocks automatic copying, a text box appears within that design with its text selected. Use your device’s Copy command, or choose Save .txt. The page only says “Copied!” when the browser reports that the copy succeeded.

How do I change or turn off sound volume?

This creator is silent. For SCT pages with sound, use the top-right sound toggle to turn it on or off, and your device’s volume control to adjust the volume.
