When you hit the invisible button, it flashes neon, makes a sound and adds one point. It then scurries to a new random position and becomes invisible again.
The button is 80 × 80 pixels on Easy, 50 × 50 on Medium and a thoroughly unreasonable 30 × 30 on Hard. Every mode gives you exactly 60 seconds.
If you go 15 seconds without finding the button, it gives one very brief neon flicker. Look away at precisely the wrong moment for the traditional experience.
